Hey everybody. I'm not videoing from one of my normal locations today so hopefully the waves in the background won't be too distracting.
I didn't want to miss a week on the journey to get 52 Monday Morning Mobile Minutes posted this year in 52 weeks so here's for week 31. So last week we defined a little bit around what we mean by a firstline worker and this week I want to talk about operational technology and what we mean by operational technology. Really there's a whole segment of technology that is continuing to evolve and proliferate because of miniaturization of technology, connectivity, and just the adoption of technology that is being used to run the systems in our business. So, operational technology refers to the technology in non-carpeted spaces in the business if you think about it that way. It is the technology that's connected to the generators, the pumps, the valves, the drilling systems, the vehicles, all the aspects of the equipment and infrastructure in our business that actually does the things that we do as a business. But what’s happening now is it's creating new challenges.
So as with anything else as we evolve and we adopt more of these technologies we're uncovering new challenges that may not have existed before and that's really what we talk about when we're referring to this convergence of operational technology and information technology and some of the challenges that poses.
