This week's Monday Morning Mobile Minute derives from a quote regarding Digital Evolution: "Inspect what you expect." We tend to focus on features and capabilities, which are important to the success of digital solutions, but what's most important are the solutions and helping the clients measure the outcomes.
I'd love your feedback on cases where you didn't get the measurement or results you were seeking – or share your success stories!

Hey everybody, it's eighth Monday of 2018, and this is another edition of the Monday Morning Mobile Minute. Today, what's on my mind is a quote that some early mentors shared with me. It's very appropriate for where we're at today with the digital evolution. The quote is, "Inspect what you expect." It's very simple, but the reality is a lot of times when we're building modern digital solutions, we tend to get focused on the features and the capabilities and where we're storing data and how we're doing integrations. Those things are all very important to the success of digital solutions.
But what's more important are the expected business outcomes that we're anticipating from the solution. Where I think we're not doing a great job overall, as an industry, is really helping clients measure those outcomes, not in terms of application performance, again that's so important, but measuring the outcomes in terms of what are the expected outcomes on the business side, and are we getting those results? If we're going to anticipate those exciting outcomes on the business side, then we need to plan from day one how we're going to measure them. That boils back to inspect what we expect. What are the expected outcomes, and how are we going to measure or inspect that the solutions we are building are meeting those expectations of the business. I question everybody here, have you had experiences where you've either built a solution, or you've experienced working with a solution where you didn't get the expected outcomes?
I'm curious to hear feedback on how you came to realize that you weren't achieving the business outcomes that had been expected. Or maybe some positive stories, where you've absolutely gone out and measured those expectations right out of the gate and were able to achieve success as a result of that. So, I'd like to hear some feedback from everybody. Thank you again for taking a minute or two to listen today. We'll see you again next week.
